The Second Sunday of the Month
Hi friends, It’s the second Sunday of the month, and you might be wondering: why on earth am I writing? Well, I’ve been wanting to take this friendship business a lot more seriously. My busy and, quite frankly, soul-destroying schedule is not an excuse. By some stroke of luck, and a series of misfortunes tailing it, I’ve reached the bottom of the barrel deeply enough to talk to God and self-reflect. I know - me, talking to God? Turns out he’s a pretty cool dude. Either he’s a really good listener, or I’ve driven myself to the point of madness, and I’m really just talking to my new imaginary friend. But because of this, I’ve realised that I need to get to know myself again. This past week, I’ve left behind all my worries. I’ve been keeping up with my outside hours, drawing, cutting, painting, and sewing. My room, just yesterday, was cleaned down to every last speck of dust. It’s an obvious discovery, but helping yourself does actually help. Attached below are snippets of my recent works and whatnots.
So yes, I’ve made friends with fairies, and, more excitingly, a pen pal! This morning, I received a letter in my email.
More things to look forward to! I want to put my phone completely out of commission. Except, of course, for sending texts and calls. Here’s the thing: being in a slump so absolute, meaning failing for the first time and going through your first big heartbreak, is probably the reset I’d been asking for. I wanted a redo, and so I’ve been given exactly that. What more do I have to lose? In my head, it’s the perfect time to rid myself of all my bad habits. You could call it biting the bullet all at once, though the bullet is probably the size of the entire gun that’s been pointed at me for the last couple of months. So I’ll have to pray I catch the bus, and then run like hell. Perhaps that’s too many metaphors in the same paragraph, but whatever, you get the point. I’m getting back my optimism.
